A witness to the accident told troopers the man may have looked down just before the crash, noticing he was off the right shoulder. The vehicle he drove ended up rolled onto its side and the victim ended up dead behind the vehicle.
The driver admitted to drinking three cocktails and a shot of brandy during his nine hours of poker. He only had a 20-minute drive home, leaving the casino resort around 7:30 a.m.
The man now faces a variety of charges. He is being charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, DUI, and a multitude of traffic violations. He is currently held in a county correctional facility in lieu of $500,000 bail.
